Furniture is Frustrating

Before we moved into our house, I was so excited to start buying new furniture. I managed to see things I liked everywhere, and wasn't sure how I was going to narrow it down enough to choose just one.

Now that we are moved in and I realize I need to make sure everything matches; however, I'm finding that it's a lot harder than I originally thought.

When we moved, we decided that a dining room table and coffee tables / entertainment center were the pieces on the top of the "To Buy" list. We had all of those in our apartment, but they were some cheaper pieces: they worked well there, but now that I am trying to get everything to match, they don't work so well.

We started with a dining room table. We managed to agree on the fact that we both wanted a tall table; and while I wanted something square, Joel wanted something rectangular. We looked many places, and couldn't manage to agree on something. It would either be the wrong color, have the wrong cushions, not be the right shape, or the most dreaded reason: too expensive.

Finally, the day we went to Walkers Furniture, we were in luck. We found this table:

Luckily, it was something that we both agreed on. The next thing we had to make sure of was that it was going to look ok with our kitchen cabinets. So sure enough, we went home, got a drawer from our kitchen, brought it back, and matched it with the table. It seemed to look good, and in the end, I think it matches our kitchen well.

The hunt for the coffee table / entertainment center is not going as well; however. It is amazing to me that it is so difficult to find a coffee table and entertainment center that match! The routine seems to be that we will find a coffee table we agree on and like, then go to find an entertainment center to match, and there is nothing. So we will then look at the entertainment centers, find one we like, and find that the coffee table that matches it is hideous.

I feel like I have looked everywhere. This hunt has been going on for quite a while now, and I'm starting to feel like we are at a dead end. Perhaps I'm being too picky, but to find something that we both like, matches, and that we can afford is beginning to be impossible.

I will keep looking; however. I am determined to find exactly what I'm looking for; it has to be out there somewhere. So in the meantime I will keep going from store to store, hoping to find it sitting there.
