It's a fun little town . . . somewhat bigger than Cannon Beach, but still a small little beachside city. There are quite a few little shops, a small aquarium, and of course a ton of beachfront property.
More than doing all of that; however, this small town brings back a ton of memories for me.
When I was smaller, we used to travel to Cannon Beach every year for a family reunion. You probably remember seeing last year's reunion here, but those reunions used to take place annually at Cannon Beach . . . until it became easier for my grandparents to stay here instead.
Because we were there so many different times, a ton of fun memories were built. And every year, one day during that week was always spent traveling to Seaside to visit the certain "favorite spots."
This made it twice as much fun to travel back and see them exactly as I remembered!
We started out at the Candy Man Store . . .
The Candy Man Store was my favorite as a kid. The have what seems like a million different types of salt water taffy, as well as jellybeans and all sorts of other different kinds of candy. It's the cheapest taffy I could find, and always has been. That's what I love about this store . . . it looks exactly the same as it used to, and the prices are still probably pretty close to what they were 10 years ago as well. Afterall, where else can you find an ice cream cone for 75 cents??
When you walk in, the first thing you do is spin the big wheel, in hopes to win some free taffy. None of us did, but we did enjoy our consolation pieces.
Throughout the day, we visited a carousel in the middle of a mall that was frequently ridden as a kid, a hat store with tons of different goofy hats to try on, and many more little shops.
And even a small aquarium, where we were able to purchase boats of sardines and feed some sea otters. Although they looked cute at the beginning, they are smarter than I gave them credit for, as one particular one decided to send a large wave of water my way whenever I wasn't fast enough to feed it.
And finished the day off with some time on the beach.
** I've been having a hard time with blogger lately . . . trying to get things lined up, and this whole post deleted itself twice before I could post it. Is anyone else having a hard time?
