Our Visitor

So yes, we are still here. Let me just say that wow, has life been busy lately! You'd think we were getting married soon or something . . . ;)

Over the weekend we were asked if we would dog-sit for one of my co-workers. So on Thursday night, this dog, also known as Yuki, was dropped off at our house and hung out over the weekend.

And let me tell you that Westin was more than thrilled to have a buddy to hang out with for a while. The played constantly, and were essentially inseperable the entire weekend.

Sunday afternoon Yuki was picked up, and I think Westin is still letting us know how he feels about it. He has currently taken his frustrations out on the closet door molding and garbage can. . .

Apparently, we need to bring him around his 'friends' more often!

A Story About A Tree . . .

At the beginning of the season, I was having a debate with myself.

This year for Christmas, should we get a real Christmas tree, or go with the fake one again?

You see, I never grew up with real trees. My dad was, and still is I suppose, very allergic to Christmas trees. Because of this, we always settled for a fake tree. Not that it was a bad thing, but just how it always was.

The past few years, while in our apartment, we stuck with the fake tree theme, and had a small one. It was about 5 feet tall, and did the job for the tiny apartment.
But this year . . . this year was different. I had much bigger ideas.

I knew I was going to go all out on the Christmas thing. Call me crazy, but we all know how much I am obsessed with Christmas. This time I had a much bigger space to decorate, so I was going to go for it.

I had one dilemma; however. That tiny tree from our apartment wasn't going to any justice in our much bigger family room.
So the dilemma . . . should we go out and buy a new fake tree from the beginning, or should we try the real tree thing this year. . . ? Afterall, perhaps this would be the first year I could have a real Christmas tree in my house.

Long story short, I went back and forth. I finally decided that I needed to put the tree up a little too early in the month, and honestly knew that it might take me a little longer to get it down this year (if we were on a honeymoon and all). A real tree just wouldn't last this long.

So we made our minds up, and a fake tree it was. We found a great deal at Costco, and before I knew it we had a 9 foot tall Christmas tree!
And let me tell you, I abolutely love our Christmas tree. I definately think we went with the right choice.
I know the picture doesn't do it much justice, and is a little blurry. I have discovered it is actually kind of tricky to capture the beauty of a lit tree in a picture. I plan to keep working at it though, to give you the full effect.
But regardless, I sit here daily and admire my gigantic Christmas tree. As I said before, Christmas has definately settled itself in this household.

Westin And The Snow

Westin seemed to enjoy the snow for the most part . . .
. . . until the top managed to freeze over . . .
. . . and every time he took a step, he would sink into the snow below.
It was actually quite funny.

Tis the Season

Our Thursday night consisted of . . .

The Polar Express (my favorite Christmas movie) . . .

Hot Chocolate . . .

And trimming the tree . . .

The Christmas bug has definately hit this household . . .

. . . and I wouldn't have it any other way.

The Bachelorette Party

On Saturday, a group of my closest friends got together and threw me the best bachelorette party a girl could ask for!

We started the night with dinner at Red Robin, then on to a local bar to see a hypnotist that was in town . . .

We then made our way over to Terra's house for fun and games . . .

All in all, a great night . . . I had a blast!

Thanks to everyone who put in so much time and hard work!!

Meet Roxy . . .

Meet Roxy.

Also known as "Tommy and Terra's new puppy" . . .

. . . or as "Westin's new best friend."

Roxy came to visit Westin and I for the first time yesterday . . .

. . . where she made herself right at home.

Luckily Westin was in a "sharing-type" of mood . . .

. . . so neither of us minded in the least.

She's definately the cutest new puppy in town!

Welcome to the family Roxy!

Thanksgiving 2010

Thanksgiving 2010 was full of amazing food, some football, great friends and family, and lots of full bellies.

This year's dinner marked the first full-cooked meal for my mom to make in her brand new kitchen. You see, they have been remodeling for the past many months, and the kitchen was done just in time for the feast. The only downfall to using new appliances for the first time when cooking for so many people is the fact that they may not work 100%. Because of this, part of our Thanksgiving was spent trying to figure out how to get the oven to actually warm the food . . .

Luckily, the food was warm for the most part, and we were able to enjoy everything.

While my mom spent her time in the kitchen, my dad ended up spending his time here, as he has been down with a nasty cold bug for almost a week . . .

. . . but is fortunately feeling a lot better now.

Overall, it was a great Thanksgiving . . .

Now, let the Christmas festivities begin!

Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snow!

The first snow of the season has hit hard this year . . .

I absolutely love the snow! But, I am not so much of a fan of driving in it. My car does not do great, and I end up sliding around more than anything.

So when I was at work last night and the snow starting coming down, I was a little hesitant about how I was going to get home. Afterall, we are a little farther away than we were last year . . .

But I braved it, and managed to make my way home in one piece. I was quite proud of myself, to tell you the truth, as I normally don't do well at all. It sounds like I made it home just in time too, as the snow is coming down just as hard as when it started, and doesn't look like it's going to let up any time soon. I've heard stories and stories of how bad the roads are at this point, and it sounds like the city is slowly starting to shut down.

Even though it makes it a little trickier getting anywhere, I am still in love with the snow! Because of it, I have managed to talk Joel into staying home this evening and decorating our Christmas trees (I'm shooting for 5 this year).

I've had my Christmas candles burning all day, and am looking forward to a cozy evening of Christmas music, movies, hot chocolate, decorations, and the blizzard outside.
